The following are some features for you to consider in selecting the best floor covering for your needs...

Ease of Maintenance: Vinyl, laminate and ceramic tile are great options for easy-care flooring. Other options may require a bit more upkeep to maintain their good looks.

Durability. Ceramic and laminate are ideal alternatives for high traffic areas that experience daily abuse from children, pets, and heavy traffic. Although marks will show on hardwood, the surface can be refinished.

Longevity. Ceramic, hardwood and cork are known for their ability to stand the test of time. Chances are you will want a change long before these materials need replacing.

Moisture resistance. Kitchens and bathrooms are prone to humid conditions. For these areas, it is best to use materials that are more water-resistant, such as tile, vinyl, and certain types of laminate (check manufacturers' warranties).

Allergens. Allergy concerns are common in today's environment. To minimize allergen susceptibility, select floor covering with a hard surface that contains few crevices or grooves to harbour dust mites and allergens. Ceramic tile and hardwood are ideal options.
